Fukushima nRadioactive Debris Showing Up In Alaska

A Kodiak man says he’s found debris from the Japanese tsunami washing up on the beaches.

Dave Kubiak found seven white Styrofoam floats shaped like fifty-five gallon drums in late September. Kubiak then sent photos of the floats to retired oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer.

Ebbesmeyer says the floats are associated with oyster farms in Japan.

Kubiak tell CBS 11 News he was surprised to see debris from the tsunami only nine months after the disaster.

So far no personal effects have turned up. If they do authorities are asking they be turnes over to them.

Oceanographers expect debris from the disaster to wash up on Pacific Ocean shores over the next few years.
