Goldendale Monastery Fire

NOTE: This fire is effecting us. In this rural area, information is hard to get, we get most everything online or from other people & scanners. We can't see any of the mountains around us, or the local hills. Various levels of smoke & ash are everywhere. We're probably 8 miles or so from the rapidly growing fire. Everything depends on the directions of the wind. Happy Tails Rescue is home to 40 +/- Rottweilers, horses, goats, llamas, chickens & cats. Nobody is ever prepared to evacuate something of this size and we're asking for your prayers, positive energy & blessings that it won't come to that.

Many of these dogs are completely terrified of other people and some have never left their runs because of their previous traumas. They fear that they will relive their previous hardships and so steadfastly insist on staying where they are happy, safe, well fed and loved.

Today, we're taking a pick up load of dog food to the Fairgrounds for dogs who have already been evacuated and are in touch with other resources to determine how great that need is. It will likely exceed our immediate ability to help. We have contacted folks we know at Oregon Human Society and The Pongo Fund in Portland to stand by for additional food assistance for the dogs of evacuees.

This video is from yesterday and doesn't represent the obvious spread of this fire. Our Animal Control Officer & friend evacuated 2 nights ago with his dogs & 9 horses, our pasture is offered as a stand by. Our goat milk dairy friend is on stand by to evacuate. We have offered her a spot for herself & 9 Pitbulls, while another friend has offered to take her goats.
