120 Ships Stuck In Finland Ice
More than 120 vessels have become stranded in ice in the Gulf of Finland, with their number growing by 20 ships every day, the St. Petersburg seaport administration said on Monday.
The Gulf of Finland has been iced over for more than a month, with dozens of ships waiting for assistance because they are unable to ply their way through the heavy one-meter-thick ice floes. The situation in the gulf deteriorated last week after a cyclone from the Norwegian Sea hit the region.
A total of 11 icebreakers, including the Taymyr-class Vaigach nuclear powered icebreaker, have been sent to the area to help the stranded ships out. As of early Monday, 121 vessels out of 135 sailing in the gulf have been trapped in the ice, the port administration said. Only seven ships are currently sailing through the area, moving through ice channels hewed by the icebreakers.

Records California March Snowfall!
"This March has been history in the making," says the Alpine Meadows, Lake Tahoe, California, website.
"This has officially been marked as the snowiest month of March on record, with a month-to-date snow accumulation total of 201 inches at the base lodge. The previous March record was set in 2006 with 197 inches."
With a total of 312 inches (26 feet, or 7.9 meters) of snow on the upper mountain - and counting - the ski season has been extended to May 15.
Almost forgot about "Global Warming" with all of the Fukushima fun!

Tanks For Fukushima Seroius Clean Up
San Francisco) -- The Japanese military has deployed two Type 74 Main Battle Tanks to the destroyed Fukushima Daiichi GE nuclear reactors. The 80,000 lb, or 36,363 kg, Type 74 Tanks are equipped with bull dozer blades and can be equipped with Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Protective kits.
The 720 HP tanks are expected to clear away rubble from the destroyed reactors; including thousands of tons of burning, highly radioactive old reactor cores stored on site. Internationally known Physicist Dr Paolo Scampa has calculated that 70 Billion Lethal Doses of radioactive particles have been released from the Fukushima Daiichi six reactor site. That is enough lethal radiation to kill everyone on Planet Earth 10 times over.
Dr Michio Kaku, a world famous physicist has recommended that the Japanese military implement the "Chernobyl Option" to entomb the four out of control reactors in Boron and Concrete. The Boron kills the Neutron life blood of the reactor cores.

Hey, let's make everyone in America feel good about themselves. Why can't we do the same thing that the EPA is doing with the radiation levels. They simply raise the "safe" levels to higher numbers, therefore all levels are now safe.
Why can't we do the same thing with obesity?
I propose something along the lines of: You are only obese if you weigh over 400 pounds, otherwise you're not. There, obesity rates have dropped drastically in North America.
Real people need real food to stay healthy!

Chernobyl & What We Can Expect
1) Radioactive contamination from the Chernobyl meltdown spread over 40% of Europe.
2) Nearly 5 million people still live with dangerous levels of radioactive contamination.
3) Most of the Chernobyl radionuclides (up to 57%) fell outside the former USSR and caused noticeable radioactive contamination over a large area of the world practically the entire Northern hemisphere.
4) Levels of radioactive contamination in the first days and weeks after the catastrophe were thousands of times higher than those recorded 2 or 3 years later.
5) When the reactor exploded, it expelled not only gases and aerosols but also particles of U fuel melted together with other radionuclides firm hot particles. When absorbed into the body (with water, food or inhaled air), such particles generate high doses of radiation even if an individual is in an area of low contamination.
6) Lastly, the impact of the 2400 tons (some authors estimate 6720 tons) of lead dumped from helicopters onto the reactor to quench the fire has not been adequately evaluated. A significant part of this lead was spewed out into the atmosphere as a result of its fusion, boiling and sublimation in the burning reactor.

American Radiation Exposure
As Americans focus on March Madness and Dancing With the Stars instead of the radioactive plume spreading all across the country, the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is attempting to make the mainstream media cover up of the Fukushima cloud a bit easier.
The agency now notorious for its infamous claim that the air was safe to breathe after 9/11 is now seeking to raise the PAGs (Protective Action Guides) to levels vastly higher than those at which they are currently set allowing for more radioactive contamination of the environment and the general public in the event of a radioactive disaster.
PAGs are policies established by the EPA that guide the agency in enforcing the various environmental laws such as the Clean Air and Water Act in the invent of a radioactive emergency such as a nuclear/dirty bomb or factory meltdown like that occurring in Japan.
The EPA had already established PAGs in this area in 1992. They can be found here. However, the agency now plans to amend and revise these standards this year.

Radiation No Threat?
Administration spokespeople continuously claim "no threat" from the radiation reaching the US from Japan, just as they did with oil hemorrhaging into the Gulf. Perhaps we should all whistle "Don't worry, be happy" in unison. A thorough review of the science, however, begs a second opinion.
That the radiation is being released 5,000 miles away isn't as comforting as it seems. The Japanese reactors hold about 1,000 times more radiation than the bombs dropped over Hiroshima..1 Every day, the jet stream carries pollution from Asian smoke stacks and dust from the Gobi Desert to our West Coast, contributing 10 to 60 percent of the total pollution breathed by Californians, depending on the time of year.
Mercury is probably the second most toxic substance known after plutonium. Half the mercury in the atmosphere over the entire US originates in China. It, too, is 5,000 miles away. A week after a nuclear weapons test in China, iodine 131 could be detected in the thyroid glands of deer in Colorado, although it could not be detected in the air or in nearby vegetation..2

New Superbug in 35 states, kills 40%
A dangerous drug-resistant bacterium has spread to patients in Southern California, according to a study by Los Angeles County public health officials.
More than 350 cases of the Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, or CRKP, have been reported at healthcare facilities in Los Angeles County, mostly among elderly patients at skilled-nursing and long-term care facilities, according to a study by Dr. Dawn Terashita, an epidemiologist with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
It was not clear from the study how many of the infections proved fatal, but other studies in the U.S. and Israel have shown that about 40% of patients with the infection die. Tereshita was not available for comment Thursday morning but was scheduled to speak about the study in the afternoon.

Keep in mind that prevailing winds vary considerably with the jet stream. Rain or snow during heavy radiation will bring it straight to the ground, good weather and it will continue with the jet stream, allowing further dilution.

Fukushima Radiation Soars
Radioactivity in water at reactor 2 at the quake-damaged Fukushima nuclear plant has reached 10 million times the usual level, company officials say.
Workers trying to cool the reactor core to avoid a meltdown have been evacuated.
Earlier, Japan's nuclear agency said that levels of radioactive iodine in the sea near the plant had risen to 1,850 times the usual level.
The UN's nuclear agency has warned the crisis could go on for months.
It is believed the radiation at Fukushima is coming from one of the reactors, but a specific leak has not been identified.
Leaking water at reactor 2 has been measured at 1,000 millisieverts/hour - 10 million times higher than when the plant is operating normally.
"We are examining the cause of this, but no work is being done there because of the high level of radiation," said a spokesman for the plant's operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco).

Fukushima Criminal Cover Up
a former employee of Hitachi Ltd. (6501) came forward saying that he helped cover up a flawed steel protective vessel that was installed in the Fukushima Dai-Ichi Reactor 4 core in 1974. Mitsuhiko Tanaka told Bloomberg that the defective steel in the $250 million vessel was a very serious "time bomb" just waiting to go off, as it represents the key protective unit for the reactor's core.
According to the Bloomberg report, a mistake during the final construction process of the vessel caused the steel walls to become warped. Based on regulatory guidelines, the cylinder should have been scrapped, said Tanaka, but because doing so would have potentially bankrupted the company, his bosses asked him to come up with a quick fix -- and he complied.
After figuring out a way to reshape the flawed vessel and make it look as though nothing was wrong, Tanaka was awarded a three million yen bonus from Hitachi, which also gave him a certificate honoring his "extraordinary" work.
Years later when asked to participate in a documentary on the Chernobyl disaster, Tanaka says he became convicted over what he had done, and decided to come forward with the truth. When he told the Japanese Trade Ministry about the coverup in 1988, they allegedly refused to do anything about it, saying that because Hitachi had denied the accusations, they must not have been true.

No Safe Radiation Levels
“There is no safe level of exposure and there is no dose of (ionizing) radiation so low that the risk of a malignancy is zero”--Dr. Karl Morgan, the father of Health Physics
Radiation is energy that travels in waves. It includes visible light, ultraviolet light, radio waves and other forms, including particles. Each type of radiation has different properties. Non-ionizing radiation can shake or move molecules. Ionizing radiation can actually break molecular bonds, causing unpredictable chemical reactions. Our Radiation Basics (PDF) fact sheet walks the layperson through what radiation is, where it comes from, types of radiation, half-lives and how it can affect humans.

Fukushima Now Level 7
A new analysis has been prepared for Greenpeace Germany by Dr Helmut Hirsch. His assessment is based on data published by the French government's radiation protection agency
(IRSN) and the Austrian governments Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).
The total amount of radionuclides iodine-131 and caesium-137 released since the start of the accident until March 23rd, as reported by the two institutes require the Fukushima accident to be reclassified to the same level as the Chernobyl nuclear disaster twenty five years ago in April 1986.
In fact so high are the releases that they are amount to three INES 7 accidents.
In contrast to the Chernobyl accident which involved one nuclear reactor, Fukushima has suffered major failures at four.

Nuclear Crisis At Fukushima
UPDATE, 11:00 am, Friday, March 25, 2011. Greenpeace Germany has released a statement that, according to an analysis of radiation releases by consultant Dr. Helmut Hirsch, Fukushima is now a Level 7 accident on the international scale (currently it is officially ranked as a Level 5, comparable to the Three Mile Island accident of 1979; Level 7 would make it comparable to Chernobyl).
UPDATE, 10:00 am, Friday, March 25, 2011. Three workers were treated yesterday for contamination after walking in highly radioactive water in Unit 3 that is said to have had a dose rate of 20 rems/hour—about 10,000 times above normal. However, even that rate wouldn’t be high enough to cause the burns that were reported on the workers, so there is suspicion that the rates were even higher. Radioactive elements were found in the water that are not normally found in reactor cooling water.
This has led to new open speculation among government and utility officials that the core of Unit 3 has been breached and primary containment has failed (most observers have suggested this for several days). The Japanese Prime Minister has called the situation “very grave and serious.” Radiation can be expected to be released from at least Unit-3 for some time. Steam is continuing to be released from multiple reactors at the site—steam releases at this point are certainly radioactive.
The Prime Minister suggested—but still has not required—that people evacuate in the zone 20 km to 30 km (12-18 miles) from the plant site.
Radioactive contamination of food has now been found in 11 different vegetables. High Iodine-131 levels have now been found in water supplies other than Tokyo’s; however we do not know which cities are affected.

Fukushima Yellow Rain
A University of California Daily Bruin article entitled "Remembering Chernobyl," documents how children in Belarus happily splashed around in puddles of yellow rain having been assured by Russian authorities that it was merely pollen, when in fact it was a toxic mixture of radioactivity that had been blasted from the Chernobyl plant 80 miles away.
Thinking back to 20 years ago, it’s the splashing in yellow rainwater that Antonina Sergieff vividly recalls.
“We all jumped in the puddles with the yellow stuff. ... You don’t see (it in) the air, it doesn’t materialize. But when you see the yellow dust, you see radiation,” Sergieff said.
When these elements first reached Sergieff 20 years ago, they came in the form of yellow rain.
It was not long after that residents in her hometown knew it wasn’t simply “pollen” – which is what government officials assured them, she said.
The effects of this "pollen" soon confirmed that those puddles of yellow rain contained something far more sinister, namely iodine-131, caesium-137, strontium-90 and plutonium-239.
"Soon, people started losing their hair, pictures of deformed animals sprouted up in independent newspapers, and incidences of cancer in Belarus skyrocketed, Sergieff said. According to the U.N. brief, cases of breast cancer in Belarus doubled between 1988 and 1999, among other increases."
With levels of radiation emitted by Fukushima now approaching those spewed out by the blast at Chernobyl, as the establishment media bizarrely pretends that the crisis is all but over, seawater samples taken around 330 meters south of the plant confirm that levels of radioactive iodine released are the highest yet recorded.

Radiation Spewing From Fukushima
Well-reported plumes of radiation have spread to California and beyond from the wrecked six-reactor complex at Fukushima, Japan. What's worse in terms of citizen awareness, clouds of disinformation are circling even faster.
The consequences of Japan's disaster cubed — earthquakes, a tsunami and spewing radiation — can hardly be exaggerated, with over 22,000 people reportedly killed or missing, widespread contamination by long-lasting isotopes like cesium, and an early estimate of $250 billion in damages.
Yet within the blizzard of radiation being dispersed uncontrollably, day after day, from Japan's wrecked reactors and their dry pools of burning-hot waste fuel, it's important to note the storm of reassuring but erroneous lullabies about "safe," "harmless" and "less than dangerous" exposures.
There is no level of radiation exposure, no matter how small, that is harmless. Every federal agency that regulates radioactive pollution agrees.
Any exposure raises cancer risk
The National Council on Radiation Protection says, "… every increment of radiation exposure produces an incremen tal increase in the risk of cancer."

Fukushima 10,000 Times Above Normal
Now, by March 25 TEPCO and the Japanese government can’t keep the lid on any longer. They are admitting that the containment vessel in unit 3 is ruptured. Radiated water sloshing into workers’ boots is 10,000 times above safety levels. Hidehiko Nishiyama, deputy director-general of the Japan Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, announced that radiation from the mox fuel in reactor 3 — a combination of uranium and plutonium — could be escaping into the atmosphere.
In other words, Japan and the rest of the world indeed face “the worst case”, as we have since March 11. There’s been no let up.
What the nuclear industry and the nuclear agencies have been aiming for is a kind of Mithridatization of the crisis. Mithridates was the king who took poison every day to immunize himself against poisoners. Crisis becomes normalcy. Sure, radiation levels are way above the redline; the dirt around Fukushima and huge slabs of north east Japan is poisoned; the ground around Fukushima is radiated sludge; the seas show significant contamination, not least because the seawater being sprayed on the units itself become poisoned and sinks into the dirt and back into the ocean after its detour to pick up toxicity.
Sure, this is all true, but “there’s no cause for alarm.” Never believe anything till it’s officially denied! The industry’s flacks lie steadily, as they have always done, about impacts on humans and the environment.

Plutonium At Fukushima
Kyodo News reported on Wednesday that Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) has observed mysterious neutron beams coming from the plant 13 times since the initial earthquake and tsunami. These neutron beams, which reportedly measure roughly one mile, may be evidence that uranium and plutonium have already been released from the plant's damaged reactors and fuel rods as spent nuclear fuels allegedly release such beams through nuclear fission. Officials have been observing these beams since March 13 and are just now disclosing this important information on March 23
Radioactive Fallout Fukushima Grows
Despite all the desperate efforts by world governments to downplay the severity of the release of radioactive material from Fukushima, world radiation sensors are revealing the ugly truth about the Fukushima catastrophe that the nuclear industry doesn't want you to know: The radioactive fallout is now as much as 73 percent of the daily radiation emitted from Chernobyl following its meltdown disaster. That's the story on Iodine-131, the radioactive iodine isotope that's now spreading across the globe.
Because Fukushima continues to leak radiation into the environment, its total radioactive output may yet exceed that of Chernobyl. There's certainly a lot more fuel at Fukushima than there ever was at Chernobyl: 1,760 tons of nuclear fuel versus just 180 tons at Chernobyl.
So Fukushima has ten times the amount of fresh and spent fuel as Chernobyl. And it's still spewing radiation every second. The food and water in Japan is already contaminated, the oceans are radioactive, the air is radioactive, neutron beams are jetting out of the nuclear facility, it's raining yellow water, workers are being hospitalized with radiation burns, and still the nuclear industry says stop worrying... it's all safe!
So where does all this radiation end up? Well, according to the Japanese and American governments, it all just magically fades away and there's nothing at all to worry about. But NaturalNews readers know better: This radiation ends up in the food, in the water, and circulating throughout the environment. Where will this end? No one knows for sure. But if there's one thing we've all learned from watching Tokyo this past week, it's that the time to get prepared is right now!

Fukushima Neutron Bean
TOKYO, March 23, Kyodo
Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Wednesday it has observed a neutron beam, a kind of radioactive ray, 13 times on the premises of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant after it was crippled by the massive March 11 quake-tsunami disaster.
TEPCO, the operator of the nuclear plant, said the neutron beam measured about 1.5 kilometers southwest of the plant's No. 1 and 2 reactors over three days from March 13 and is equivalent to 0.01 to 0.02 microsieverts per hour and that this is not a dangerous level.
The utility firm said it will measure uranium and plutonium, which could emit a neutron beam, as well.
In the 1999 criticality accident at a nuclear fuel processing plant run by JCO Co. in Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, uranium broke apart continually in nuclear fission, causing a massive amount of neutron beams.
In the latest case at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, such a criticality accident has yet to happen.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Wednesday it has observed a neutron beam, a kind of radioactive ray, 13 times on the premises of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant after it was crippled by the massive March 11 quake-tsunami disaster.

Fukushima Drawfs Chernobyl

'One millionth of a gram of plutonium ingested causes cancer.' Fukushima 3 is leaking plutonium
· Smoke has been reported rising from the Fukushima unit number 3. If it's from fuel-cooling pools that contain plutonium, that's a major (to put it mildly) disaster.
· one millionth of a gram of plutonium ingested causes cancer.
· Geiger counter radiation levels have been reassuring for the West Coast of North America. But the real question for public health is "internal emitters" (e.g. Strontium attached to bone) -- that cause cancer and gene mutations -- versus external radiation measurements that cannot discern isotopes.
· Long lived isotopes versus quickly degrading ones: the big question for our gene pool.
· Fuel-cooling pools pose a far worse threat than reactors. In the U.S. the fuel pools are not backed up with cooling systems!
· A large part of Japan is damaged permanently.

Fukushima Radiation 30 km OUT In SEA
Japanese scientists have found measurable concentrations of radioactive iodine-131 and caesium-137 in seawater samples taken 30 km (18 miles) from land, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Thursday.
"The iodine concentrations were at or above Japanese regulatory limits, and the caesium levels were well below those limits," the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.
Japanese authorities had given the Vienna-based agency data on samples collected on March 22-23, after detecting iodine and caesium in the water near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, it said in a statement.
"The IAEA's Marine Environmental Laboratory in Monaco has received the data for review," the IAEA said.
In a desperate attempt to cool the reactors and their spent fuel ponds, workers have sprayed or dumped seawater into the plant. Officials have acknowledged that some of the water spilled back to sea.
Japanese authorities tested seawater off the plant's site for radiation earlier this week but stressed that elevated levels already detected were no cause for concern.

Germany To Abandon All Nuclear Power
Germany is determined to show the world how abandoning nuclear energy can be done.
The world's fourth-largest economy stands alone among leading industrialized nations in its decision to stop using nuclear energy because of its inherent risks. It is betting billions on expanding the use of renewable energy to meet power demands instead.
The transition was supposed to happen slowly over the next 25 years, but is now being accelerated in the wake of Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant disaster, which Chancellor Angela Merkel has called a "catastrophe of apocalyptic dimensions."
Berlin's decision to take seven of its 17 reactors offline for three months for new safety checks has provided a glimpse into how Germany might wean itself from getting nearly a quarter of its power from atomic energy to none.
And experts say Germany's phase-out provides a good map that countries such as the United States, which use a similar amount of nuclear power, could follow. The German model would not work, however, in countries like France, which relies on nuclear energy for more than 70 percent of its power and has no intention of shifting.
"If we had the winds of Texas or the sun of California, the task here would be even easier," said Felix Matthes of Germany's renowned Institute for Applied Ecology. "Given the great potential in the U.S., it would be feasible there in the long run too, even though it would necessitate huge infrastructure investments."

Chernobyl 25 Years After
In 30,000 publications and up to 170,000 sources that address the consequences of Chernobyl.
The number of victims is one of the most contentious issue between scientists who collected data first-hand and WHO/IAEA that estimated only 9000 deaths.
The most detailed estimate of additional deaths was done in Russia by comparing rates in six highly contaminated territories with overall Russian averages and with those of six lesser-contaminated areas, maintaining similar geographical and socioeconomic parameters. There were over 7 million people in each area, providing for robust analysis.
Thus data from multiple scientists estimate the overall mortality from the Chernobyl catastrophe, for the period from April 1986 to the end of 2004, to be 985,000, a hundred times more than the WHO/IAEA estimate.
Given that thyroid diseases caused such a toll, Chernobyl has shown that nuclear societies – notable Japan, France, India, China, the United States, and Germany - must distribute stable potassium iodide (KI) before an accident, because it must be used within the first 24 hours
Key to understanding effects from nuclear fallout is the difference between external and internal radiation. While external radiation, as from x-rays, neutron, gamma and cosmic rays can harm and kill, internal radiation (alpha and beta particles) when absorbed by ingestion and inhalation become embedded in tissues and releases damaging energy in direct contact with tissues and cells, often for the lifetime of the person, animal or plant.
To date, not every living system has been studied, but of those that have - animals, birds, fish, amphibians, invertebrates, insects, trees, plants, bacteria, viruses and humans - many with genetic instability across generations, all sustained changes, some permanent, and some fatal. Wild and domestic animals and birds developed abnormalities and diseases similar to those found in humans.
It takes ten decades for an isotope to completely decay, thus the approximately 30 year half-lives for Sr-90 and Cs-137 will take nearly three centuries before they have decayed, a mere blink of the eye when compared to Pu-239 with a half-life of 24,100 years

Entire Nuclear Industry Insane
After reading his account, you will wonder, why do they keep on sprinkling water on the reactors, rather than accept the sarcophagus solution [ie., entombing the reactors in concrete. Editors.] I think there are a couple of answers. One, those reactors were expensive, and they just can't bear the idea of that huge a financial loss.
But more importantly, accepting the sarcophagus solution means admitting that they were wrong, and that they couldn't fix the things. On the one hand that's too much guilt for a human being to bear. On the other, it means the defeat of the nuclear energy idea, an idea they hold to with almost religious devotion. And it means not just the loss of those six (or ten) reactors, it means shutting down all the others as well, a financial catastrophe.
If they can only get them cooled down and running again they can say, See, nuclear power isn't so dangerous after all. Fukushima is a drama with the whole world watching, that can end in the defeat or (in their frail, I think groundless, hope) victory for the nuclear industry. Hirose's account can help us to understand what the drama is about.
If I were Prime Minister Kan, I would order them to do what the Soviet Union did when the Chernobyl reactor blew up, the sarcophagus solution, bury the whole thing under cement, put every cement company in Japan to work, and dump cement over it from the sky. Because you have to assume the worst case. Why? Because in Fukushima there is the Daiichi Plant with six reactors and the Daini Plant with four for a total of ten reactors. If even one of them develops the worst case, then the workers there must either evacuate the site or stay on and collapse.
Around Fukushima Daiichi Station they measured 400 millisieverts – that’s per hour. With this measurement (Chief Cabinet Secretary) Edano admitted for the first time that there was a danger to health, but he didn’t explain what this means. All of the information media are at fault here I think. They are saying stupid things like, why, we are exposed to radiation all the time in our daily life, we get radiation from outer space. But that’s one millisievert per year. A year has 365 days, a day has 24 hours; multiply 365 by 24, you get 8760. Multiply the 400 millisieverts by that, you get 3,500,000 the normal dose. You call that safe? And what media have reported this? None. They compare it to a CT scan, which is over in an instant; that has nothing to do with it. The reason radioactivity can be measured is that radioactive material is escaping. What is dangerous is when that material enters your body and irradiates it from inside.

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Reactor Near Miss
For 18 months, operators at the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant near San Luis Obispo didn't realize that a system to pump water into one of their reactors during an emergency wasn't working.
It had been accidentally disabled by the plant's own engineers, according to a report issued Thursday on the safety of nuclear reactors in the United States.
The report, from the Union of Concerned Scientists watchdog group, lists 14 recent "near misses" - instances in which serious problems at a plant required federal regulators to respond.
The report criticizes both plant operators and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for allowing some known safety issues to fester.
"The severe accidents at Three Mile Island in 1979 and Chernobyl in 1986 occurred when a handful of known problems - aggravated by a few worker miscues - transformed fairly routine events into catastrophes," the report notes.
The problem
The problem at Diablo Canyon, which is owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Co., involved a series of valves that allow water to pour into one of the plant's two reactors during emergencies, keeping the reactor from overheating.
The loss of water in a reactor can lead to at least a partial meltdown - a process believed to be under way at Japan's stricken Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant after last week's earthquake and tsunami.
Engineers at Diablo Canyon inadvertently created the problem while trying to solve another issue, according to the report.
A pair of remotely operated valves in the emergency cooling system was taking too long to move from completely closed to completely open. So engineers shortened the distance between those two positions, according to the report.
Unfortunately, two other pairs of valves were interlocked with the first. They couldn't open at all until the first pair opened all the way. No one noticed until the valves refused to open during a test in October 2009, 18 months after the engineers made the changes.
"It was disabled, and they didn't know it," said Jane Swanson, spokeswoman for the Mothers for Peace anti-nuclear group, which frequently spars with federal regulators over Diablo Canyon. "That's unforgivable, and it's not that unusual."

Chernobyl Clean Up Survivor Says RUN
Manzurova and her colleagues were among the roughly 800,000 "cleaners" or "liquidators" in charge of the removal and burial of all the contamination in what's still called the dead zone.
She spent 4 1/2 years helping clean the abandoned town of Pripyat, which was less than two miles from the Chernobyl reactors. The plant workers lived there before they were abruptly evacuated
Manzurova, now 59 and an advocate for radiation victims worldwide, has the "Chernobyl necklace" -- a scar on her throat from the removal of her thyroid -- and myriad health problems. But unlike the rest of her team members, who she said have all died from the results of radiation poisoning, and many other liquidators, she's alive.

EU Warns Against HAARP
However, for those among you who have an inquiring mind or the patience and concern to read about such furtive things as the demise of civilization and geo-political ethics, the document below is very instructive if not despotically frightening.
The document outlines why the strange frequency of bizarre global weather and geo-tectonic disasters appear to be on the rise and why NATO, the US Air Force and US Navy have been held accountable for their knowledge and shrouded use of HAARP technology.
High Frequency Active Auroral Research (HAARP) has been deliberated upon by world governments – but none of them – including the Canadian government have commented on what it is, what it does or how it affects life on the planet.
HAARP may well be the most silent and deadly weapon of all time – primarily because it is invisible to the naked eye and thus, its existence can be denied by government and readily dismissed by media. Those in the forefront of probing and exposing this kind of government behaviour have issued warnings about HAARP for many years. Few pay any heed. The question remains – will anyone listen now?

Fukushima Lies
Dr. Chris Busby verified today that three spent fuel pools are totally blasted away and burned up. That puts the approximate radiation levels at 24,000 HIROSHIMAS x 3 = 72,000 times the radiation of Hiroshima now in the atmosphere. Remember, this is JUST from the spent fuel pools. Radiation escaping from the reactors is another story altogether.
We have now all had time to evaluate what we believe is the truth behind the Japanese Nuclear Incident (or should I say disaster) and it has become clear that we have all been deceived by the Japanese Authorities, their nuclear establishment, the IAEA, the international pro nuclear groups and more importantly the so called experts that are invited onto the mainstream media channels to blast us with nothing more than total spin.

What Price Nuclear Power?
But there is another, potentially far more dangerous problem: the spent fuel rod pools that sit right next door to the reactors. The storage pools are packed with radioactive uranium, rise several stories above ground and are always close to the reactor, thus facilitating easy transfer of the fuel rods. Their name—especially “spent” and “pool”—conveys calm dissipation. But spent fuel rod pools are actually highly radioactive, very unstable, extremely dangerous and, compared with reactors, not well supported, contained or looked over.
The spent rods give off considerable amounts of “decay heat” and thus must be submerged in constantly circulating water. Expose them to air for a day or two, and they begin to combust, giving off large amounts of radioactive cesium-137, a very toxic, long-lasting, aggressively penetrating radioactive element with a half-life of thirty years. When cesium-137 it enters the environment, it essentially acts like potassium and is taken up by plants and animals that use potassium. (For the record, that includes you.)
Maybe now you can fully understand the seriousness of this disaster and that all those who have attempted to spread calm amongst the residents of Japan have been spinning a very deceitful planned programme of lies

Contaminated Japanese Food Imports
U.S. halts food imports from affected areas of Japan
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says it will halt imports of dairy products and produce from the area of Japan where a nuclear reactor is leaking radiation.
The FDA says that those foods will be detained at entry and will not be sold to the public. The agency previously said it would just step up screening of those foods.
Other foods imported from Japan, including seafood, will still be sold to the public but screened first for radiation.
Japanese foods make up less than 4 percent of all U.S. imports, and the FDA has said it expects no risk to the U.S. food supply from radiation.
MY COMMENT: ".....not sold to the public." Translation, is that it will be sold to food processors & wholesalers
".......no risk to the US food supply." Translation, no risk to food supply, but what about the people?
It seems that you have to read between the lines.

Fukuishima Lies Continue
Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced today that in samples taken 1,100 feet south of the plant on Monday, radioactive iodine exceeded legal limits for wastewater by 126.7 times, cesium-134 by 24.8 times, and cesium-137 by 16.5 times. Samples taken 16 kilometers (10 miles) south were up to 16 times above legal levels.
Radioactive elements in the ocean will not likely pose a threat to human health because they quickly become diluted, says Masaharu Hoshi, a specialist in environmental impact assessments at Hiroshima University’s Research Institute for Radiation Biology and Medicine. He says contamination of seawater was not a problem following the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Britons Eating GM Soy
Household names like Cadbury Dairy Milk and Bird’s Eye use milk, eggs and meat made from animals that could have been fed GM soy, the research shows.
The Daily Telegraph asked leading brands if they could guarantee that their products contained no ingredients from animals fed on GM soy.
The responses showed that ingredients in non-organic Hellman’s Mayonnaise or Lurpak butter could be from animals raised on a GM diet.
After the outcry over Frankenfoods in the 1990s, the EU ordered that supermarkets and manufacturers must label direct GM ingredients.
However there is no need to tell the consumer if GM has been used further back in the food chain.
Campaigners said allowing the livestock industry to become reliant on GM soy is letting in the controversial technology “by the back door”.
Environmentalists claim GM soy is driving deforestation and poisoning communities in South America.
The Telegraph survey showed that brands including Cathedral City, Cravendale milk and Magnum ice cream use products from animals that could have been fed GM.
Pet foods including Whiskas, Felix and Pedigree Chum could also include such products.
Barbara Gallani, Director of Food Safety and Science at the Food and Drink Federation, said most major brands will use meat and dairy from animals fed GM unless they are organic lines.
She said GM proteins are not passed from the soy into the animal product and the system poses no health risks.
“The increased use of biotechnology globally means that UK livestock will receive a growing proportion of GM crops in their feed,” she said. “This is largely unavoidable, as the UK has always been reliant on imports of animal feed."
More than three millions tonnes of soy is imported into the UK every year, a large proportion of which is GM.

The radiation leaking from the nuclear power plants in Japan have raised new awareness in many countries around the world, and that's a very good thing because awareness brings change, and positive change keeps mankind moving forward. As a result of the nuclear disaster in Japan, people are learning new ways to prevent exposure to man-made radiation using natural clays.
The radiation circulating the planet is moving across many borders; it is circulating in everyone's air and water; it is impacting plants and animals in different countries, moving over miles of oceans, over islands, and crossing national borders. An important point to remember is that all people and every animal must find a way to detox from these global pollutants bridging manmade "borders and constructs."
MANY people around the world have been ingesting natural clays for centuries to maintain general health and for detox purposes, and there is no better time than now to learn about the benefits of French Green clay.

Protecting Nuclear Assets
Tepco was reluctant to use seawater because it worried about hurting its long-term investment in the complex, say people involved with the efforts. Seawater, which can render a nuclear reactor permanently inoperable, now is at the center of efforts to keep the plant under control.
Tepco "hesitated because it tried to protect its assets," said Akira Omoto, a former Tepco executive and a member of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission, an official advisory body involved in the effort to tame the plant. Both Tepco and government officials had good reason not to use saltwater, Mr. Omoto added. Early on, nuclear fuel rods were still under cooling water and undamaged, he said, adding, "it's understandable because injecting seawater into the fuel vessel renders it unusable."
Tepco spokesman Hiro Hasegawa said the company, "taking the safety of the whole plant into consideration, was trying to judge the appropriate timing to use seawater."

Detox & Immune Support Herbs
I was in Southern Germany during Chernobyl and detoxed every way that I could, so I tend to favor the shotgun approach. Particularly when working with living foods & herbs.
Taking a dozen or so detox/immune support herbs & foods offers hundreds of chemical compounds that work together.
There has been a pressure system off the west coast 3/16 to 3/19 that continues to keep Fukushima winds from hitting the Pac NW and most of California. Radiation levels continue to show well within normal range.
To help keep your system alkaline, detox while supporting immune function In addition to the herbs mentioned & MSM, I use:
Acerola berry
Alfalfa
Ashwagandha
Astraglus
Baking Soda
Barley grass
Bee Pollen
Bentonite Clay
Bladderwrack
Broccoli powder
Bromelain
Carrot
Cats Claw
Celery seed
Siberian Chaga
Chlorella
Coconut
Cordyceps
Dandelion
Dulse
Fennel
Flaxseed
Ginger root
Ginkgo
Green tea
Hawthorne berry
Hemp seed
Irish Moss
Licorice root
Maca root
Maitaki
Mesquite
Milk Thistle
MSM
Noni fruit
Oatstraw
Olive leaf
Oregano
Parsley
Pumpkin seed
Reishi mushroom
Rice protein
Rosehips powder
Shitaki mushroom
Spinach powder
Spirulina
Yerba Mansa
Yucca root
Stay healthy and don't forget to take care of your animals too.

Pacific Hurricane Sunday?
A very strong storm system will impact the California coast on Sunday bringing damaging winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall to the area.
As if tornado warnings were not enough for the bay area on Friday, a more powerful storm is heading that way. (Tornado forecast article)
TheWeatherSpace.com Senior Meteorologist Kevin Martin is calling this a 'Pacific Hurricane' due to how it will look and act.
"While not officially a hurricane, this storm system will have a true eye on satellite images that we will catch on Sunday," said Martin. "This very powerful surface low type 'bomb' system will bring damaging winds along the California coast from the San Francisco Bay area south to Vandenberg Air Force Base, a stretch of over 200 miles."
Martin sees gusts in excess of 60 mph but warns some coastal zones will see wind gusts over 70 mph or even higher on Sunday.
According to Martin, this powerful storm system will be what will push a frontal zone through Southern California on Sunday and Sunday night. The Southern California Weather Authority (a private site he runs) has issued numerous products for the area out ahead of the storm.

Seismic Window Opens
Former USGS Geologist Jim Berkland is predicting a major earthquake in California this month.
The window starts on Saturday and we are only one day away. The term 'seismic window' has been used by Berkland since the 1970s. Jim Berkland's window starts on March 19th and closes on the 26th.
Berkland attributes his prediction on fish die offs, beachings, animal behavior, moon position, and tidal forces. Jim notes this month is "the strongest in many years" for all three.
TheWeatherSpace.com Meteorologist Kevin Martin has taken a hand at predicting earthquakes as well, but notices at times Berkland's windows go without a quake in the California region. When asked this, Martin had only a few things to say.
"I've worked on quake triggers since 1999 and all I can tell you is I've noticed a pattern between the low and high pressure systems in this area around when earthquakes happen. I've been able to match Berkland's window and narrow those days down to probable days of elevated risk."
Martin has told us that he does see just two days that may trigger a quake if you add his trigger to Berkland's list.
March 22nd and 25th are the only days he believes is the strongest out of the week long window Berkland gives.

Nuclear Fallout Map
- TheWeatherSpace.com Senior Meteorologist Kevin Martin is upset at Accuweather using what credibility they have left for scare tactics, developing a more realistic fallout map.
Accuweather released a statement that radiation from Japan's Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant would reach the United States and cause a serious concern.
"We are humans and thrive on doom, however we need to calm down and think things over before scaring the living daylights out of people like Accuweather is doing," Martin said. "The only concern is the area around the facility, which is why people are being evacuating".
Accuweather Meteorologist Jim Andrews warns about particles on the ground in a release on Monday. "Although such a cloud would pose virtually no threat while in the upper atmosphere, the fallout at the ground of radioactive particles from it should be a concern for any monitoring authority", he stated.
Martin has things to say about that.
"The activity will be dispersed over a wide area, but that concentration would be so low that it would go virtually undetectable due to wind shear in the atmosphere, tearing the particles apart", he said. "This is like throwing a bag of feathers in the air and thinking all of them will float a mile with the wind. Particles are heavy, so I would think most of them would stay around the facility; and if they come east, would only go between Japan and Hawaii before sinking back down".

US Military Euthanizes Pets When Owners Evacuate
Families of U.S. military members stationed in Japan have been told they can't take pets with them on government-departure flights, according to an animal rights group and one wife of a military member.
An animal rights group, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, said on Friday the concern had been raised to them by several family members of active U.S. military units stationed in Japan.
One of them was Stacey Hunter, whose husband is a computer specialist in the U.S. Army at Camp Zama, about 35 miles southwest of Tokyo, and who is worried about the fate of her three dogs: Harley, Neo and Kohana.
Ms. Hunter said that at several "town hall" meetings sponsored by the military in recent days, dependents of military members were told they were allowed to depart on government flights because of radiation risks but that pets could not come along. She said people at the meeting were told any pets left behind if their military guardian has to ship out would be euthanized.
"A big issue has arisen making many hesitant to leave," Ms. Hunter wrote in an email to the Animal Legal Defense Fund seeking help. "...I want to see if there is anyone willing to help hundreds of pets belonging to U.S. active duty military personnel who are remaining in the country of Japan to assist with relief efforts."

Multiple Worse Than Chernobyl
In Japan, coverup and denial persist. In a March 18 press conference, Tokyo Electric's (TEPCO) spokesman claimed water-dousing lowered radiation levels from 312 microsieverts per hour to 289. However, 48 hours earlier, chief cabinet secretary Yukido Edano said radioactivity levels were misreported in microsieverts instead of millisieverts - 1,000 times stronger.
Contrary to other reports, TEPCO's spokesman also said water remains in Unit 4's cooling pool. In fact, there's none. Nothing the company says is credible.
In contrast, distinguished nuclear expert Helen Caldicott called Fukushima an unprecedented "absolute disaster," multiples worse than Chernobyl. "The situation is very grim and not just for the Japanese people. If both reactors blow then the whole of the northern hemisphere may be affected. Only one (Chernobyl) reactor blew, and it was only three months old with relatively little radiation. (Fukushima's) have been operating for 40 years, and would hold about 30 times more radiation than Chernobyl."
It killed nearly one million people and counting, according to the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). Yet the official IAEA figure was 4,000. NYAS' report said:
"This is a collection of papers translated from the Russian with some revised and updated contributions. Written by leading authorities from Eastern Europe, the volume outlines the history of the health and environmental consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. According to the authors, official discussions from the (IAEA) and associated (UN) agencies (e.g. the Chernobyl reports) have largely downplayed or ignored many of the findingins reported in the Eastern European scientific literature and consequently have erred by not including these assessments."
In fact, IAEA and UN agencies lied, what's ongoing now on Fukushima to conceal the greatest ever environmental/human disaster by far. Calling it a "diabolical catastrophe," Caldicott, in fact, believes "(i)t could be much, much worse than" 30 multiples of Chernobyl. "In the northern hemisphere, many millions could get cancer." Large parts of Japan may be permanently contaminated, not safe to live in.
Adding a hopeful note, she also thinks "the nuclear industry is finished worldwide. I have said before, unfortunately, the only thing that is capable of stopping this wicked industry is a major catastrophe, and it now looks like this may be it."

Why Japanese Behave Better
t its robust social order will endure, and ultimately thrive.
But why is this? He offers some basic points, the first of which is that Japanese life is settled. Recalling a conversation with a Japanese business executive, Lifson recalls:
“Japanese people,” he told me, “are like passengers on a cruise ship. They know that they are stuck with the same people around them for the foreseeable future, so they are polite, and behave in ways that don’t make enemies, and keep everything on a friendly and gracious basis.”
“Americans,” he said, “are like ferryboat passengers. They know that at the end of a short voyage they will get off and may never see each other again. So if they push ahead of others to get off first, there are no real consequences to face. It is every man for himself.”
The Japanese, in other words, are more rooted and socially connected, and even when they move around, they make an effort to get to know each other. This builds social capital which, as Robert Putnam found in Bowling Alone, eventually builds economic capital. What people in Britain generally call “the broken society” is in fact a collapse in social capital, from disconnected neighbourhoods to desocialised children.

Mayor Bitter Over Fukushima Safety Risks
The voice on the phone was calm and dignified, as befitted a proud Japanese mayor, yet this somehow made his fury more forceful.
Hours after the tsunami struck, Katsunobu Sakurai told me, he had sought advice from the government on whether to evacuate the 71,000 people in his city, which is just 12 miles downwind of the Fukushima nuclear plant.
At first ministerial officials simply ignored his calls. When he did manage to speak to them, they assured him there was no cause for concern; a message he accepted and dutifully relayed.
He had toed the line because that is what Japan's civic leaders invariably do. But yesterday, far too late, the mayor of Minamisoma finally realised that he had been deceived, at best, and perhaps even lied to.
'Of course I am angry,' he told me through an interpreter yesterday. 'I was ignored and then badly misled, and as a result the people were abandoned here to die.
'But I was the one who told them it was safe to stay, and now I have decided that I must be the last person to leave this city. I have been in my office since last Friday, and I won't go until the last person has left safely.'
For a city mayor to voice such sentiments at a time when his countrymen are being urged to stand together in the face of Armageddon is tantamount to mutiny.
He may not be the last to turn on prime minister Naoto Kan and his government as their platitudes and misinformation test the admirable forbearance of the Japanese public to its limits.

Fukushima Fifty Knowingly Risk Death
The radiation levels at the plant entrance are at a level which will either kill the workers soon or cause them appalling illnesses in the years to come.
Experts have said that the airtight suits they are wearing would do little to stop the contamination.
The group remained behind after 700 of their colleagues fled when radiation levels became too dangerous.
Their identities have not been revealed, but experts said they are likely to be working class front-line technicians and firemen who know the plant the best.
It is thought that mostly older men have volunteered because they have already had children – younger workers might be rendered infertile by the high radiation doses.
Whilst the men are called the Fukushima Fifty, the group is thought to actually be 200-strong. They are doing four shifts in rotation, working on restarting the cooling systems.
Their heart-rending messages home were made public yesterday by Japanese national television, which has interviewed their relatives.
One relative said: 'My father is still working at the plant. He says he's accepted his fate, much like a death sentence.'
A woman said her husband who was at the plant had continued to work while fully aware he was being bombarded with radiation.

California Air Quality
Today the radiation levels in the US remain unaffected. This is using private monitoring systems that update every 3 minutes. No radiation in the US today.
NRC Radiation Updates
Earlier this week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency deployed extra radiation detectors throughout the country that will send real time data via satellite to EPA officials, who will make the data available to the public online.
“A diplomat who has access to radiation tracking by the U.N.'s Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization told The Associated Press in Vienna that initial readings show tiny amounts of radiation have reached California. But it's not dangerous in any way — ‘about a billion times beneath levels that would be health threatening,’ the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the organization does not make its findings public,” the Associated Press reports.

Nuclear Chief Weeps
The boss of the company behind the devastated Japanese nuclear reactor today broke down in tears - as his country finally acknowledged the radiation spewing from the over-heating reactors and fuel rods was enough to kill some citizens
Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency admitted that the disaster was a level 5, which is classified as a crisis causing 'several radiation deaths' by the UN International Atomic Energy.
Officials said the rating was raised after they realised the full extent of the radiation leaking from the plant. They also said that 3 per cent of the fuel in three of the reactors at the Fukushima plant had been severely damaged, suggesting those reactor cores have partially melted dow
# Officials admit they may have to bury reactors under concrete - as happened at Chernobyl
# Government says it was overwhelmed by the scale of twin disasters
# Japanese upgrade accident from level four to five - the same as Three Mile Island
# We will rebuild from scratch says Japanese prime minister
# Particles spewed from wrecked Fukushima power station arrive in California
# Military trucks tackle reactors with tons of water for second day

Do We Face the 'Big One' and Soon?
Prescient geologist Jim Berkland says yes
The Earth is living, moving and continually active. Where and how we live has a very significant impact on how any disaster will effect us. Living in a high rise building in a huge city with few roads out of town will create a different scenario that where we are.
For example. We are 12 miles outside of SmallTown USA. The small town is <4,000, population, the entire county is <20,000. Portland Oregon is 2.5 hours away, Seattle is almost 5 hours away. No tall buildings here, plenty of game, fish and open areas. This type of area is where many city people will try to find friendly faces if they need to get out of Dodge.
Most people have gardens, can food, have private water wells, many are off grid and are already on the "leading edge" of being poor. You can't eat money though, can you?
It's good that we use our own intelligence to evaluate risks and try to avoid them. Just like calling ahead for a winter pass report. No point in charging head first into an avalanche if we can avoid it.
We can't control the winds, we can only adjust our sails and act accordingly. No matter what happens in the days to come, we'll all be making some type of preparation, adjusting our sails and try to stay informed. Not much point in a panic.
Bridges you cross before you get to them, are over rivers that aren't there....not my quote, but a good one, don't you think?

North American Interactive Weather Map
March 18, in South Central Washington state, we have a weather pressure system off of the coast that is currently keeping any radiation from reaching Vancouver, Ca. some areas of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Northern California.
National Weather Service scroll down to see pressure system.
Important action items to take right now
If you live in the western states or provinces of North America, it is extremely important to be prepared by taking the following actions RIGHT NOW:
1) Fuel up your vehicle(s) and be ready to hit the road for a possible evacuation (or hunker down if you're out in the country and feel like you would be safer there).
2) If you plan to stay put, go to the hardware store TODAY and buy large amounts of plastic sheeting and duct tape to seal up your windows and doors. This will help protect you from radioactive fallout. You will also need to store water, food, and all the usual emergency supplies because outside help probably won't be available.
3) If you plan to evacuate, have a "Go Bag" ready to go at a moment's notice. This go bag should include a water filter, emergency radio, flashlight, duct tape, emergency knife, spare cash, whatever medical supplies you might need, extra food and water, spare fuel cans and so on. Have it ready now in case you need it.
4) Significantly increase your intake of iodine-containing foods and superfoods starting right now: Seaweeds are a great source. We've listed our entire inventory of what we have available at our store (http://www.naturalnews.com/031730_i...), but I would actually prefer you to go out and get this locally TODAY at your local health food stores, where possible. You may not have time to wait on a UPS delivery. Fortunately, our store ships from Ojai, California, meaning that if you order foods from us today that are in stock, and you're in California, you could receive them very, very quickly (within 1-2 business days).
5) If you have potassium iodide pills (radiation pills), don't take them yet. Keep them ready to take if and only if a meltdown event occurs and a massive dose of radiation has been released into the atmosphere.
6) Have a plan for you and your family. Where will you meet if you need to evacuate? Don't count on cell phones working. Have a plan of where to go, how to get there and how to survive once you get there.
Why you probably won't be told the truth on all this by "official" sources
Hopefully none of this will be necessary. If they can stop the meltdown at Fukushima, there is virtually no real radiation risk in North America. That's the outcome we're all hoping and praying for.
But if a meltdown takes place, it is almost certain that strong winds will push a massive radiation cloud right into North America within a matter of days, potentially dropping an extremely dangerous quantity of radioactive material on California or other regions. That's the scenario that we all need to be prepared to guard against.
Do not rely on your government to tell you the truth about what's happening. Governments are in the business of "preventing panic" by withholding information you need to know. Governments believe that if too many people know the truth, it might start a panic, and even more people could die in the panic than from the event itself. They may actually be correct at some level on that, but I believe that people have a right to know what's really going on. And the sober, shocking truth of the matter is that as of right now, our world is facing an unprecedented nuclear meltdown event that could dwarf the Chernobyl catastrophe of 1986. We're talking about as many as 600,000 spent fuel rods which are now threatened by fires and loss of cooling fluids. This is not a set of circumstances to be taken lightly.

Radiation Map US
A forecast by the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization shows how weather patterns this week might disperse radiation from a continuous source in Fukushima, Japan. The forecast does not show actual levels of radiation, but it does allow the organization to estimate when different monitoring stations, marked with small dots, might be able to detect extremely low levels of radiation. Health and nuclear experts emphasize that any plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States.
Radioactive Cloud May Never Arrive
But Russian radiation levels remain completely normal, and doctors are forced into sounding a different kind of alarm.
“If anything really serious happens there, consume large amounts of iodine, or red wine – that's what people often say. But such things won't help,” explained a local physician, Seymon Matseplishvili. “Quite the reverse: they may seriously damage health, because iodine blocks thyroid function, and it may well happen, and probably will, that while everything in Japan goes back to normal, many of our people will have problems with their thyroid glands.”
Everyone wants to be on top of official reports. Preparing for the unknown, many go even further, buying personal radiation meters – Geiger counters. Price is no object.
“In the last three days we sold out our monthly stock of Geiger counters. We now have to turn to our suppliers for an additional shipment,” said Skogorev Ivan, director general of the Vladivostok-based PrimTechnoligoes.
Taking reasonable precautions is reasonable, unless panic threatens to become worse than the catastrophe itself. That was the case with the outbreak of the H1N1 swine flu virus, which helped drugs companies earn billions. Today, in Russia's Far East, the transportation industry and pharmacies are cashing in on the panic. But at stake is the region's largest business: fishing. It accounts for 80 percent of the economy in Vladivostok, Russia's largest city on the Pacific Ocean.
Local restaurants, offering fresh seafood from the waters off Japan, are already losing clients. Customers are afraid of radioactive fish. If the hysteria continues, wholesale fish markets could be next to suffer, meaning no silver lining to a radioactive cloud that may never arrive.

Japanese Radiation Reaches US West Coast
The first detection of radiation from Japan has been recorded along the West Coast of the United States, but the UN insists the levels of radiation are far below dangerous levels.
NOTE: CHECK US RADIATION LEVELS updated every 3 minutes. I do not see any high levels.
The UN's Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization initially issued a statement alleging a radioactive plume could hit California by March 18 – they were right.
American health and nuclear officials, and US President Barack Obama himself have repeatedly said there is no real threat of radiation from Japan and any detected radiation would be in the safe zone.
However, many are still worried.
US suppliers of Geiger counters, gas masks, anti-radiation tablets and pet shelters are selling out of their supplies, many having to place back orders.
Obama has called for calm across the nation, asking the American people to trust the government. His words have had little impact as the people openly knock the information coming from the US and Japanese governments, and even the UN.

Venezuela Halts Nuclear Plans
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he is freezing plans to develop a nuclear energy programme in the light of the crisis in Japan.
Venezuela signed a deal with a Russian company last year to develop a nuclear power plant over the next decade.
But Mr Chavez said events in Japan showed the dangers of developing nuclear power were too great.
Chile has said it still aims to sign a nuclear accord with the US next week despite the crisis in Japan.
Countries around the world have been reconsidering their nuclear policies in the face of the crisis at Japan's Fukushima nuclear complex triggered by last week's huge earthquake and tsunami.
President Chavez said he was calling off Venezuela's plans to build a nuclear plant.
"It is something extremely risky and dangerous for the whole world," he said.
"Despite the great technology and advances that Japan has, look at what is happening with some of its nuclear reactors.

US Military & Social Networks
The U.S. military are developing software to spread pro-U.S. propaganda via fake accounts on popular social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter, Guardian wrote.
U.S. Central Command (Centcom), which oversees US armed operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, awarded a contract to develop an "online persona management service," allowing one serviceperson to control and manage up to 10 fake identities.
The fake personas, known as "sock puppets," would have a convincing background, history and other details, and will influence online conversations "without fear of being discovered by sophisticated adversaries."
"The technology supports classified blogging activities on foreign-language websites to enable Centcom to counter violent extremist and enemy propaganda outside the U.S.," Guardian quoted Centcom spokesman Commander Bill Speaks as saying.

Tokyto Electric To Build Nuclear Plant In US Gulf
I need to speak to you, not as a reporter, but in my former capacity as lead investigator in several government nuclear plant fraud and racketeering investigations.
I don't know the law in Japan, so I can't tell you if Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) can plead insanity to the homicides about to happen.
But what will Obama plead? The Administration, just months ago, asked Congress to provide a $4 billion loan guarantee for two new nuclear reactors to be built and operated on the Gulf Coast of Texas — by Tokyo Electric Power and local partners. As if the Gulf hasn't suffered enough.
Here are the facts about Tokyo Electric and the industry you haven't heard on CNN:
The failure of emergency systems at Japan's nuclear plants comes as no surprise to those of us who have worked in the field.
Nuclear plants the world over must be certified for what is called "SQ" or "Seismic Qualification." That is, the owners swear that all components are designed for the maximum conceivable shaking event, be it from an earthquake or an exploding Christmas card from Al Qaeda.
The most inexpensive way to meet your SQ is to lie. The industry does it all the time. The government team I worked with caught them once, in 1988, at the Shoreham plant in New York. Correcting the SQ problem at Shoreham would have cost a cool billion, so engineers were told to change the tests from 'failed' to 'passed.'
The company that put in the false safety report? Stone & Webster, now the nuclear unit of Shaw Construction which will work with Tokyo Electric to build the Texas plant, Lord help us.
There's more.
Last night I heard CNN reporters repeat the official line that the tsunami disabled the pumps needed to cool the reactors, implying that water unexpectedly got into the diesel generators that run the pumps.
These safety back-up systems are the 'EDGs' in nuke-speak: Emergency Diesel Generators. That they didn't work in an emergency is like a fire department telling us they couldn't save a building because "it was on fire."

Radiation Levels
Radiation Levels - As of this morning, background radiation levels from our stations on the West Coast still look pretty normal, when disregarding the randomness of background radiation in the first place. As an indication of foreign radiation moving into the environment, such as a gamma laden cloud, keep on the lookout for a sustained increase and trend in background levels over time, to where multiple stations start averaging first in the 40's, the 50's, and 60's to 100 CPM range. Keep in mind that spikes and troughs in readings for any one minute are not relevant - only average readings at a sustained rate are meaningful.
bullet You have responded! - We asked you to set up your own Monitoring Station, and the response has been overwhelming, and you are already seeing new Stations popping up on the map. Unfortunately, we have sold out of Geiger Counters for the time being, and that is now the limiting factor. Until we are re-supplied, I can tell you that there are already tens of thousands of compatible Geiger counters already out in the marketplace, from acquisitions over the last 20 years, that are in the hands of your local Fire Departments, or collecting dust in drawers in homes, businesses, and universities. So review again the compatible models listed on the Map page, and if you know someone in that category, see if they can't put those detectors to work. We can supply the required Software and Data Cables to "plug in" to the Network.
bullet Media Coverage - Our work and your interest is paying off. Just in the last two days, we have seen media coverage from, and done interviews with everyone from the New York Times to Fox News, along with a myriad of talk shows, alternative media, local press, and TV network affiliates. At a time when our government continues to assure of us of no radiation danger, yet fails to follow that up with actual collection data, the media is noticing that our network is one of the few resources where concerned Americans can obtain data on actual radiation levels in at least some locations in the US.
bullet Alert Level - You are an astute group! A few of you already noticed that we recently lowered the Alert Level for the Map from 130 to 100 CPM. It was probably too high in the first place. The optimal setting for a Radiation Alert is one that is not so low as to invite false alerts from momentary spikes in radiation, yet not so high as to defeat its original purpose.

Animals Need Protection Too
Our 40+ pooches are quite happily taking their 3 drops (100 lb+ dogs) of iodine daily on their dog cookies.
If you don't like the thought of swallowing any type of Iodine, then there is another even better option that I like. The bottoms of our feet have all of the acupuncture meridian lines that circle down and back through out body. Whatever you place on the soles of your feet will travel to all of your organs, including the thyroid.
You can experiment by rubbing crushed garlic on the soles of your feet and 20 minutes later you will have sweet garlic breath.
I prefer Iodine delivery on the soles of my feet.
Dogs, horses, cattle etc will also eat various clays found naturally or those you place in their feed & water. When we use organic apple cider vinegar in their water, they drink more water than they do without it.
Animals are great self healers. When ill, they too seek the best remedies found in nature. Tasting this herb, rejecting another, looking for specific grasses, rejecting others.

Organic Iodine
Znzymes & Nascent Iodine
Nascent Iodine & Clay Detox
How is organic iodine different than iodine?
The mineral, iodine is highly poisonous as basic element and it takes only three grains to kill you. When a plant absorbs iodine (or any minerals) from the soil or mineral it converts it to an non-toxic organic form (or better described as colloidal form). Organic (colloidal) Mineral research became popular in the 1930's and a leading researcher, Dr Watson demonstrated drinking a glass full of colloidal iodine to show its safety. As no land based food containing iodine can easily be identified (even organic foods), there is only seaweed and seafoods in high quantities containing organic iodine.
The closest you can get (and what my family take) to Organic Iodine is the product Nascent Iodine Why boost my organic iodine levels to protect against radiation? If your body does not get enough of any mineral and in this case iodine then your body may take in the next (available) mineral on the periodic table.
Radioactivity contains radioactive iodine and therefore anyone deficient in iodine is at risk of absorbing this radioactive iodine which will end up all over the body in all of the places where iodine is used and especially the thyroid.
Radioactive Iodine has a life of 15 million years and so supplementation is essential throughout the lives of anyone exposed to radioactivity. Therefore the important thing is to get iodine into your body in a safe supplement form. This does not have to be "potassium iodide" if there is a safer supplement is available. It can also be in the form of Nascent Iodine, which is a high-quality iodine supplement that has been available in the natural product marketplace for several years. (Do NOT drink topical antiseptic iodine products as they may be toxic). To protect against radioactive contamination take 10-drops of Nascent Iodine 4 times per day.

No Panic Here, Turn Off The TV
How do we know what to believe and what to dismiss? How are we able to separate fact from fiction or fact from self serving agendas or from out right misrepresentations?
How do we trust the person or media who is telling us something? Are they telling us or providing information for us to make our own decisions regarding eating right and natural healing?
Today, finding a truth is easier than ever, there are no important secrets floating around out there that don't eventually have a thread to the Internet.
Everything is at our finger tips....there is literally access to every major university in the world, the worlds libraries, newspapers and wire services. That isn't to imply that if it's online, it's a sacred truth, no more so than any other form of media
The Internet is simply an amazing tool we can use to quickly sift through enormous amounts of information about natural health, complimentary and alternative medicine, medicinal herbs and read stories form folks who believe in them. Research that used to take days and weeks pouring through libraries now can be accessed in minutes!
Our Friendly Telescreen?
Sixty years of television has changed this country, it's an invited guest into most of our homes, it serves as a baby sitter, it fills the silence of an empty room, it enables busy lives to be entertained 24/7, it helps people unwind after long commutes, it shows the latest fashions world wide, provides weather and news.
Or is it more than that?
Many believe that watching TV is a harmless, entertaining activity worthy of our attention, but there are some eye-opening things to consider. The average American family watches about 5 hours daily.
Television is essentially a platform for elite advertisers and policy leaders of the dominant society to peddle their wares by directly touching your emotions with a steady stream of images that distract your process of logical thinking.

Cesium 137 Detox
All nuclear waste is mixed with Zeolite clay before packaging and stored underground because it helps prevent radioactivity from seeping into the ground after prolonged storage. Surprisingly, the Zeolites are stable even under the highest levels of radiation, a fact proven after the fissions reactor meltdowns at both Three Mile Island and Chernobyl where Zeolites were used to mop up the waste caused by the accidents.
The British Nuclear Fuels (BNF) also uses a specific type of Zeolite clay to remove radioactive strontium and cesium - 137 and, therefore, reduces the radioactivity of liquid waste discharged into the Irish Sea. The Hanford, Washington nuclear weapons facilities are lined with clay to prevent contamination.
A Swedish study showed another kind of Zeolite could decontaminate live animals and meat affected by the Chemobyl disaster.
Most people know about the dietary or edible clays (Bentonite, Kaolin, Red Clay (Morocco), Fuller’s Earth, French Green clay, Montmorillonite, etc.) and in particular Bentonite clay, which is often part of colonic detoxification regimes because it can absorb heavy metals and contaminants in the intestines.
There are over 200 different types of Bentonite clay, and the problem with many of these Bentonites is that they have extremely high aluminum content. So you don’t want to be ingesting the clay without knowing what is in it. Years ago the same problem existed with various colloidal mineral solutions in that they were choked full of alumina and heavy metals that people were ingesting. Some Bentonite clays are composed of 65-75% aluminum!

We Are All Related
This time of extreme adversity and tragedy that is unfolding in Japan gives the world an opportunity to reflect and realize how truly connected we are to that common thread that is woven to each of us.
If we stand on a lake and cast a stone, we can be sure that the ripples will reach the other side of the lake. If we stand in a circle and I toss a ball of string to one person, still holding my end, and they toss the ball of string to another person. In a short period of time we are all connected.
while miles may separate us, customs & language give us unique personalities, our humanness is the same, irrespective of the continent.
As we honor the valor, courage & dignity of the Japanese as they fight for the Nuclear Reactor containment, let's remember the words of another heroic personality:
“You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of your grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.”
Feds Deploy Radiation Monitoring Equip to West Coast
SAN FRANCISCO – More radiation monitors are being deployed in the western United States and Pacific territories, as officials seek to mollify public concern over exposure from damaged nuclear plants in Japan, federal environmental regulators said.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency already monitors radiation throughout the area as part of its RadNet system, which measures levels in air, drinking water, milk and rain.
The additional monitors are being deployed in response to the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan, where emergency workers are attempting to cool overheated reactors damaged by last week's magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami.
Officials with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said they do not expect harmful radiation levels to reach the U.S. from Japan.
"The agency decided out of an abundance of caution to send these deployable monitors in order to get some monitors on the ground closer to Japan," said Jonathan Edwards, director of EPA's radiation protection division.

Fed Seize Potassium Iodide
U.S. Supplies of potassium iodide pills are taking a huge hit as people flock to the stores in search of protection from possible nuclear fallout.
A number of stores across the west coast are reporting that they are completely sold out. And a pharmacist at a Walgreen’s in California told us that they would not be getting anymore because the government has seized all supplies.
Fleming Pharmaceuticals, maker of ThyroShield a potassium iodide used in nuclear emergencies, said in a press release today that before the Japanese Quake the federal government already has stockpiled millions of doses. The company claims that some of the federal stockpile has expired and the remaining supply is set to expire over the year.
White House chief spokesman Jay Carney continued to tell the press that the U.S. is not in danger, but wouldn’t comment on the governments stockpiling program.
Potassium iodide, which is sometimes are sold as anti-radiation pills can protect your thyroid from radiation by blocking the absorption of radioiodine. Potassium iodide does not protect from all side effects of radiation poisoning and can have a number of side effects. It should only be taken in prescription doses if the radiation reaches the coast at dangerous levels.

Reishi & Radiation, DISCOUNT
As a public service Aloha Medicinals is immediately discounting all reishi products so we can all have some protection from any radiation risk that may occur from the Japanese nuclear disaster. Reishi does not take the place of Iodine tablets, but research has shown it may be effective in helping to reduce the effects of radiation exposure.
We are marking down our 90 count, 500 mg Red Reishi Capsules from $19.95 to $14.00 and our 90 count 300 mg Reishi Essential Capsules from $15.95 to $10.00 to make them affordable for everyone. Hopefully the USA will not experience the effects of Japan's nuclear disaster, but if things continue to get worse and the radiation reaches the West Coast we need to all be prepared. It is far better to prepare now than to wish we had later.
We are all in this together and we need to work together to get through it. Stocks are limited, so please order quickly. Suggested use is 3 capsules per day from now until this situation is resolved. Good Luck to us all.

Natural Clays For Radiation
SOURCES: French Green Clay or Bentonite Clay
Mountain Rose Herbs
StarWest Botanicals
Magnetic Clay
Nascent Iodine
As they did at Chernobyl, one of the best things the Japanese government should do is raze their nuclear power plants damaged by the earthquake under a layer of natural clay to absorb the radiation.
Natural clays possess healing qualities that not only attach themselves to and remove toxic substances and radiation from the body, but natural clays activate the body's own immune system through their chemical constitutions. The composition of any healing clay should replenish the body's nutritional needs naturally while removing toxins, especially radiation.
Green clays contain:
Magnesium
Calcium
Potassium
Manganese
Phosphorous
Zinc
Silicon
Organic copper
Selenium
Organic cobalt
Micro-algae
Kelp
Phyto-nutrients
I recommend using French Green Clay above the other natural clays, but it is hard to find in the United States. Any clay that powders when dry is the healthiest clay to ingest. The Pascalite Company has a great montmorillonite clay in both capsule and powdered form that comes from Wyoming's Big Horn Mountains. If you use bentonite clay, make sure to stay well hydrated because this form of clay can harden inside of the body, but it is not toxic. Here are some links to find these healing clays:

How Does Radiation Harm
Concern is mounting about potential health risks of radiation from the crippled nuclear reactors in Japan. How much radiation you get depends on the dose, duration and method of exposure. Some types of radioactive particles are more dangerous or longer lasting than others.
Some basics:
Q. How are people exposed to radiation?
A. Radioactive particles in fallout can be inhaled into the lungs, fall on the skin or be ingested through contaminated food or water. The level can vary greatly even between short distances, said Dr. Fred Mettler, a University of New Mexico radiologist who led an international study of health effects after the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
"You can come around a corner and the dose rate can be very high, and you get back behind a column and the dose rate is much lower," depending on what type of particles are in the fallout, whether you're standing under a roof where they've accumulated or shielded you from them, etc., he said.
Q. How does radiation harm?
A. In the short term, radiation damages rapidly dividing cells — hair, the stomach lining, bone marrow. That can cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, loss of infection-fighting blood cells and clotting problems. Children are most at risk because they have so many rapidly dividing cells.

World Considers Nuclear Failure
General Electric Co. (GE)’s goal of broadening its $1 billion nuclear service-and-parts business with sales of new reactors risks stalling as world leaders reconsider the future of atomic energy.
Governments from Germany to India are reassessing the technology after Japan’s March 11 earthquake and tsunami crippled a power plant and raised the threat of a meltdown. China today halted nuclear project approvals and plans safety inspections of new facilities.
Political doubts after the Japan disaster may signal dwindling appetite for new plants, and the reactors that Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt has said he wants to pursue. Three reactors at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi plant use a GE design, including the damaged No. 1 unit that began operating in 1971.

Potential Radiation Risk Video
Is radiation cloud from Japan’s damaged nuclear reactors eventually reaches the western United States, it could pose a threat to American crops and the people who eat them, nationally known neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock tells Newsmax.
He also says the radiation could pose a cancer risk, and explains steps to take to protect against the damaging effects of radiation exposure.

Workers Losing Battle With Nuclear Reactor
* French minister: 'Let's not beat about the bush, they've essentially lost control'
* Radioactive steam spews into atmosphere from reactor number three
* Experts warn that crisis is 'approaching point of no return' as officials run out of options
* Officials commandeer police water cannon to spray complex
* Attempts to dump water on reactors by helicopter fail
* Two more previously stable reactors begin to heat up
* Rich scramble to book private jets out the country as fleeing passengers pack Tokyo airport
* Workers battling nuclear meltdown evacuated for hours today after radiation levels increased
The UK government is urging all British nationals to leave Tokyo as soon as possible amid fresh safety fears.
The Foreign Office this evening issued a statement recommending that all Britons leave the area for their own safety. At least 17,000 UK citizens live in Japan, the vast majority of them in Tokyo.
The plea came as the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear plant in northeast Japan worsened amid concerns of a radiation leak

Watch Soda Effect Your Body
In this video, reporter Yunji DeNies drinks a 20-ounce glass of cola, which contains the equivalent of 16 teaspoons of sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This is nearly three times the maximum daily sugar intake recommended by the American Heart Association.
HFCS typically contains a mixture of 45 percent glucose and 55 percent fructose (although recent investigations have found that many brand-name sodas actually contain 65 percent fructose!).
Once ingested, your pancreas rapidly begins to create insulin in response to the sugar. The rise in blood sugar is quite rapid. Here’s a play-by-play of what happens in your body upon drinking a can of soda:
* Within 20 minutes, your blood sugar spikes, and your liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into fat.
* Within 40 minutes, caffeine absorption is complete; your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, and your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. As you could see in the report above, DeNies’ blood glucose level was 79 at the outset of the experiment, and after 40 minutes it had risen to 111!
* Around 45 minutes, your body increases dopamine production, which stimulates the pleasure centers of your brain – a physically identical response to that of heroin, by the way.
* After 60 minutes, you’ll start to have a blood sugar crash, and you may be tempted to reach for another sweet snack or beverage.

Splenda & DDT
Splenda, the Artificial Sweetener that Chemically Resembles DDT
Splenda is the brand name for the chemical compound called sucralose that is 600 times sweeter than sugar, and is the subject of many previous articles on my site, so if you’re just reading about Splenda for the first time, you might want to start here, and also this article for a primer on this dangerous additive that the FDA has allowed into your food supply.
It’s worth noting that Splenda is actually 99 percent sugar (dextrose and maltodextrin, which are derivatives of high-fructose corn syrup), with 1 percent sucralose added. This is how strong a sweetener sucralose actually is.
Economically using Splenda makes no sense, since it only saves you a handful of calories, and that isn’t even taking into consideration the health implications of using this toxic chemical!
Both sucralose and DDT are organochlorines, meaning they are in a class of man-made chemicals that have a chlorine molecule bonded to their chemical structure through synthetic processing (organochlorines are not found in nature).
Some other examples of organochlorines are a host of pesticides that have been banned worldwide because they disrupt both animal and human health, including being linked to the following:
